Can any dog go for hydrotherapy?
You must seek your vet’s approval if they have not referred you initially.
How long will the session last?
Approximately half an hour. Actual swimming times vary for all dogs. This will depend on your dog’s condition/ injury, fitness. age and breed.
What happens on arrival?
We will do a full assessment of your dog and discuss your vet’s notes/referral letter.
What happens in the pool?
Firstly we will shower your dog and fit a harness/ buoyancy aid. We will then gently take your dog into the pool, using the ramp.
The hydrotherapist will be with your dog in the pool so they can assess how your dog is doing.
When the session is complete, we then shower and dry your dog.
Will my dog enjoy being in the pool?
Some dogs are natural water lovers, whilst others need a little time to adjust to a new environment and feeling of the water.
The key is a really gentle and steady approach with lots of positive encouragement.
It is important to know dogs who love swimming in open water may not enjoy a session in a hydro pool.
How many sessions will my dog need?
This really depends on the dog, they are all individuals with different requirements.
